Von Trier has once again proven his directorial prowess, crafting easily one of the most beautiful films I have seen in recent memory.
Melancholia is a chilling analysis of human desperation & uncertainty, but more importantly the acceptance one must reach when dealing with the finality of all life on earth ending.

Hats off also to Manuel Alberto Claro for his cinematography efforts. There's a particular horse riding sequence that must be applauded.

In our bedroom after the war.

Leonard_cohen_grecian_woman_study_6247_67
This undemanding love
that our staggered births
have purchased for us --
You in your generation,
I in mine.
I am not the one
you are looking for.
You are not the one
I've stopped looking for.
How sweetly time
disposes of us
as we go arm in arm
over the Bridge of Details:
Your turn to chop.
My turn to cook.
Your turn to die for love.
My turn to resurrect.

Well done, SBS.

'Last week SBS Dateline presenter Yalda Hakim broke an international story following the massacre of 17 Afghans by a rogue US soldier.

Hakim became the first western journalist to interview witnesses, including children, who spoke about other Americans who were present during the slaughter. It contradicted the official US Army version that Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, troubled by marriage woes, admitted he acted alone one night when he was drunk.

The Dateline report has been played in full on international media including CNN, CBS, NBC, FOX News and Al Jazeera. The Pentagon has denied any other soldiers were involved.

Despite the magnitude of the her investigation, SBS says no other Australian media have reported the news.'
